On March 18, representatives of chambers of commerce of Finland met Mr Yuri Morozov, Director of the Department of international and interregional cooperation of MCCI. The event was attended by Deputy Director of CCI of Finland Mr. Tommy Rasil, director of trade chamber of Lapland Mr Timo Rautayuki, director of trade chamber of South Ostrobothnia Mr Pertti Kinnunen and public relations manager of Chamber of Commerce of Finland Mrs Anne Hatanpää.
Yuri Morozov spoke in detail about current state and prospects of Russian-Finnish trade and economic cooperation, noting that Moscow - the most prosperous economic center in Russia, which makes it an excellent platform for business development and international contacts. Potential for cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce in Moscow and Finland is not used in full force. With this in mind it is important to search for new points of mutual interest and areas of cooperation.
Deputy Director of Chamber of Commerce of Finland Tommy Rasil presented its activities. Particularly active connections were established with St. Petersburg, North-West Russia. However, the Finnish side is interested in expanding cooperation with entrepreneurs in Moscow region.
Yuri Morozov proposed to select the most promising areas of cooperation, such as tourism and innovative technologies to provide a mutual exchange of business missions with presentation of projects for economic cooperation.
According to representatives of Finland bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Finland promises to be a long-term and fruitful, as both Finnish and Moscow businessmen are interested in entering the markets of both countries.
The parties agreed to exchange information and make proposals for the expansion and strengthening cooperation. At the same time the Finnish representatives expressed hope that the political aspects of relations between Russia and the EU will not affect contacts between businessmen of the two countries.
