On January 29, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr .Vladimir Platonov, met with the Trade Counsellor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Opening the meeting, Mr. Platonov said that the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry is interested in continuing its close cooperation with Vietnam that has been established over the years. He said that the Chamber is ready to carry out the continuous flow of bilateral business information and is ready to recommend reliable and proven business partners to its Vietnamese partners.
In his speech, the President of the MCCI paid special attention to the MCCI’s educational project for foreign students of Moscow universities entitled"Start your business with Moscow” He describing in detail its advantages for Vietnam, where the prestige of Russian higher education is traditionally high.
Mr. Zuong Hoang Minh, the Trade Counsellor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Russian Federation, warmly thanked Mt. Platonov for his kind words. "We know very well about Soviet and Russian education. And know many of our fellow countrymen, who study in Russian universities," he said. The Trade Counsellor also said that a direct air link between Moscow and Ho Chi Minh City will open soon. "Probably the most difficult issue now for both sides is structuring payments. Because money is the basis of market relations,” Mr.Hoang Minh asserted. He recalled that after 2022, the trade turnover between Vietnam and the Russian Federation fell very sharply, but in 2023, it rose by 2.3 percent and now stands at $3.6 billion.
"There is no doubt that this figure will grow!" - Mr. Platonov expressed his confident opinion. Mr. Minh asked the the MCCI’s representatives to assist Vietnamese companies in participating as much as possible in business events held in Russia.
Mr. Vladislav Mishchenko, the Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and International Cooperation of the MCCI, confirmed that the capital's business community highly values Vietnam as a trade partner.
He proposed to establish cooperation for inviting both official, commercial and industry delegations, promising to provide them with all possible assistance. Mr. Mishchenko agreed that the main problem today for Russian and Vietnamese businesses is banking transactions, emphasizing that the MCCI has many contacts with Russian banks and is interested, in turn, in obtaining a list of Vietnamese banks that are ready to work with Russia. He once again emphasized the importance of informational exchange and confirmed that it would be interesting to invite Vietnamese students to gain business skills and their potential placement in projects that exist between the countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various possible areas of cooperation between Moscow and Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Cooperation with the Vietnamese business community will continue and expand.
