On February 7th, the MCCI President, Mr. Vladimir Platonov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Senegal to the Russian Federation, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Thiatie Tine.
"We are a part of the world system of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and, therefore, are pleased to develop a mutually beneficial cooperation with entrepreneurs around the world", - said Mr. Platonov in his opening speech, describing the projects that the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry is implementing. The Head of the Chamber paid special attention to the educational project for foreign students of Moscow universities: "Start your business with Moscow". Mr. Platonov described in detail its advantages for African countries, where the prestige of Russian higher education is considered traditionally high.
In his response, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Senegal to the Russian Federation, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Thiatie Tine, sited a large number of business initiatives in terms of foreign economic partnership on the part of entrepreneurs from both countries. "Senegal is a state that is very attracted to Russia, and is trying to build strong relations with it. This primarily concerns the spheres of energy and education" - said Mr. Ambassador. In this regard, he noted that it would be important and interesting for Senegal to take part in the educational project of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Start your business with Moscow". In general, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Tiatia Tine, highly appreciated the prospects for cooperation with the MCCI in terms of developing business contacts between the business communities of Moscow and Senegal.
Mr. Vladislav Mishchenko, the Advisor to the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Director of the Department of External Economic Relations and International Cooperation, noted that not all foreign partners have full information about the advantages of working with Moscow and the Russian capital. "Moscow is among the world leaders in developing technology and its digitalization. Immense steps have been made in terms of the city's ecology, its transportation system; I would also like to make a special mention of security: the most modern system in the world has been created, using the most accurate recognition technologies," Mr. Mishchenko noted. He also listed the existing problems in foreign economic activity: first of all, there are difficulties in logistics and the lack of direct payments. He suggested that the Senegalese delegations work together to solve these problems.
During the meeting, the parties discussed various possible areas of cooperation between Moscow’s business and the business community of Senegal, agreeing that it should continue and expand.
