On May 31, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry held an economic conference on the issues of bilateral cooperation between Russian and Czech entrepreneurs.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations for the city of Moscow, Yevgeny Drize, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation, Vladimir Remek, the Director of the Department of foreign economic policy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Martin Pospishil, the Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suren Vardanyan, the representatives of business communities of Russia and the Czech Republic.
As Eugene Drize stated in his report, the business cooperation between Russia and the Czech Republic has a long history and good future: "We have a common mentality and we can easily negotiate. I would especially like to emphasize that this is the eighth meeting and all the agreements that we have reached have been fulfilled.” In the current difficult situaton, the Czech Republic is still one of the twenty most important economic partners of our country.
Vladimir Remek expressed the hope that the conference will be fruitful and will contribute to the understanding of the problems that arise between the two countries in terms of establishing a mutually beneficial cooperation.
Martin Pospishil said that as a result of the anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union and economic retaliation of the Russian Federation, the Czech Republic has lost up to 40 percent of exports. Meanwhile, in his opinion, our countries have good prerequisites for networking in the provision of services; this is a great and very promising market.
The conference was briefed by representatives of a number of Czech companies, working in various fields: industrial production, equipment supply, trade, and education. On the Russian side the opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of mechanical engineering, presented by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CJSC "Mireks", Yuri Kalyan, and the Chairman of the Guild of Logistics Operators of the MCCI, Svetlana Domnina, described the public association and services that the companies - members of the guild - are ready to provide for the Czech partners.
Summing up the official part of the conference, Suren Vardanyan voiced confidence that the business relationship between the two countries will flourish. In this key area, the Vice-President of the MCCI considers the issues of cooperation between educational programs and production: "Over the past few decades, we have lost a whole generation of professionals and now it is the primary task of finding the personnel and potential employees, who can develop the new, sophisticated equipment." And in this area there we have a definite progress.
