The President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, took part in the Russian-Cyprus Business Forum, which was held in Limassol, and presented the MCCI’s project to strengthen cooperation between business communities.

The event has long been included in the annual calendar of bilateral meetings, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cypriot-Russian Business Association, with the support of the Russian Embassy in Cyprus.

On the Cyprus side, the Forum was attended by the Minister of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, Mr. Georgios Lakkotrypis, Deputy Minister of Shipping, Ms. Natasa Pilides, President of the Cyprus CCI Christodoulos Angastiniotis and the President of the Cyprus-Russian Business Association, Mr. Eugenios Eugenio. The Russian delegation included the advisor to the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr. Georgiy Petrov, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, of “Roskongress Foundation”, financial, investment, legal and IT companies. The participants were welcomed by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Stanislav Osadchiy.

The key topics for discussion this year were prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of banking and financial services, energy, logistics, digital economy and innovation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          In his address to the participants, Mr. Petrov noted the friendly and constructive relations that have developed between the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cyprus-Russian Business Association. He affirmed that such meetings allow business to discuss current problems of interaction and find new promising directions and projects.

In his speech, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the online platform “Business Market”, developed by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry for enhancing the opportunities for cooperation between entrepreneurs from various countries and regions.

Mr. Platonov clearly defined his main task - to show the need to further unite entrepreneurs of all countries around the conglomeration of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which has a long history. “To understand what is happening in Russia and Moscow,” he said, “suffice to say that only 32 years ago the first law appeared that allowed Soviet citizens to engage in business activities. During this time, the country with the most powerful planned structure has become 15 independent states with a market economy. And next week, the Moscow City Duma will confirm the city’s budget, with projected revenue of more than 2 trillion rubles, or about 30 billion euros. This money allows the city to develop. What the city has become was witnessed by the citizens of dozens of foreign countries during the past World Cup."

Introducing the online platform developed by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Head of the Moscow Chamber stressed that in developing business relations, finding partners to solve various business problems is of great importance. "Our platform does not compete with Alibaba and similar marketplaces, it was created to enable members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to cooperate in B2B mode, find each other and successfully establish business connections," said Mr. Platonov. He said that today, the offers of the Moscow’s “Business Market” cover a comprehensive range of business services. Already, this program includes eight regions of Russia and Kazakhstan. The MCCI is open for collaboration with organizations and business associations for their development. Entrepreneurs join this program through their Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the MCCI offers other CCIs the free use of its platform after signing an agreement with the MCCI.

Mr. Platonov said that within the framework of the “Business Market” it is proposed to develop such areas as investment, expert activities, training and industrial cooperation. “Based on requests from a memberS of the MCCI, we are now creating a system of international industrial cooperation through the monetization of free resources of companies,” said the President of the Chamber of the Capital of the Russian Federation. “If someone urgently needs additional assistance from attorneys, marketing specialists or experts in a variety of business areas, for example, businessmen have the opportunity to avail themselves of such services and specialists directly.”

The Head of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry invited Cypriot companies to cooperate more closely, using the new digital opportunities, offered by the business community of the capital of Russia.
