On March 6th, the managers and staff of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the charity project “People’s lunch”.
For several hours they became volunteers for the Food Fund "RUS" and collected 200 food parcels for poor Muscovites. Each set consisted of essential food stuffs: buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, pasta, peas and sunflower oil. Calorie content of each parcel of food is enough to feed one person for two weeks.
The members of the MCCI separated and placed food in packages, folded them and attached labels. The work proceeded smoothly and efficiently. The President of the MCCI, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, told the reporters present at the event that the Chamber willingly participates in various social projects. "The idea of cooperation among food producers, retail and service networks, donating food commodities in favor of the needy, seems very interesting.
It seems to me that this project can successfully complement the support system for the low-income citizens, created by the State. Moscow businessmen were always famous for their tradition of mercy and charity, and this historical experience should be preserved, encouraged and promoted”.
Our Fund is working throughout the country and is gradually expanding its presence and forging new relationships with manufacturers and sellers of food, - said the Head of the Food Fund “Rus”, Ms.Victoria Krisko. In 2016, only in Moscow and the Moscow suburbs we have been able to distribute more than 1.5 million kilograms of free food and essential products for the needy. We hope that the involvement of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry in our charitable endeavors will help in drawing attention of its members to the task of providing food assistance for the needy".
All collected food packages will be delivered to the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent and distributed to the needy Muscovites. The assistance will be provided for families with many children, single elderly persons and families with children with disabilities.
At the completion of the event, Ms. Victoria Krisko handed to Mr. Platonov the “Food Provider” certificate, which will be proudly displayed among the awards of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
