The World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (WCF) holds biennial World Chambers of Commerce Congresses, on rotational basis, on all the continents of the world. These events are the largest and most prestigious international Forums with regard to Chambers of Commerce. Traditionally, they are attended by delegations from more than 100 countries, prominent politicians, heads of leading international economic organizations, world business leaders.
"Over a thousand delegates from more than a hundred countries have gathered here today," said Mr. Jorge Teixeira Pinheiro, the President of the Brazilian Confederation of Business and Trade Associations at the opening of the event.“Business is capable of uniting people and resist isolationist and anti-globalist tendencies.”
A joint exposition of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Government of Moscow was set up during the Congress, dedicated to the presentation of the Russian bid to hold the World Congress of Chambers of Commerce in the Russian capital in 2023. Belfast and Geneva will compete with Moscow for the right to host the 2023 Congress. The next WCF General Council will be held in Moscow on 10-12 September, 2019.
In the course of the Congress, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Brazilian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism was signed. During the ceremony, the Presidents of the two chambers, Messrs. Vladimir Platonov and Gilberto F. Ramos, discussed issues of cooperation to strengthen the Brazilian-Russian business ties, as well as joint work within the framework of the International Club of Employers.
"The cooperation agreement between our chambers will make it possible to develop cooperation in the most advanced fields," Mr. Ramos said. “We are talking about innovations in the technological sphere, creation of startups, localization of the existing digital platform for interaction in b2b and b2c formats of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil", - explained Mr. Ramos. According to him, this will allow to develop a full-fledged system of instantaneous online communications, which, in turn, is expected to lead to an increase in the number of new transactions in the nearest future.
At the Congress discussed were key topics of international economic cooperation, current issues of business development.
The digital project of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Business Market" became one of the finalists of the competition of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce in the category "The Best non-traditional project". Its presentation took place during the course of the World Congress on June 12.
