A delegation from Brazil visited the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The visit was organized with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo ( a Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States’ Affairs) and timed to the commencement of the upcoming III BRICS+ International Municipal Forum in November of this year.
The delegation included representatives of regional governments, businessmen, interested in building cooperation in the fields of import and export, and the development of humanitarian and economic cooperation.
The MCCI’s President, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, welcomed the guests to the MCCI platform and noted that the cooperation between the MCCI and Brazilian businessmen has already a rather long-term standing.
He reminded the delegation that Sao Paulo is a member of the Business Council of the largest metropolitan cities of the world (C7). And in 2019, during the participation of the MCCI delegation in the World Congress of Chambers of Commerce, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Brazilian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. The Head of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce spoke about one of MCCI's projects, - the Employers’ Club. "Around the world, we are looking for graduates of Soviet Universities, who have become successful entrepreneurs. They know the Russian language and are not afraid to work with Russia." He invited guests to join the project.
The Vice-President of the MCCI, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, in charge of international and interregional cooperation, told the guests that the Chamber has been successfully organizing and conducting business missions, preparing presentations of economic and investment potential of different countries, regions and cities. "All last week, we conducted an online business mission for Moscow’s companies, looking for partners in Nigeria," said the representative of the Chamber’s leadership. He noted that very often the MCCI acts as an intermediary in the organization of interaction between the city authorities and foreign companies.
Mr. Agusto Soares do Nascimento, the mayor of Barbasena, of the Southeastern Minas Gerais’ region, was very interested in the process of interaction between the city authorities and entrepreneurs, as well as in the legislation to support entrepreneurship. He said that now, in Brazil, the legal framework is being reformed, including legislation for supporting business. Mr. Platonov pointed out that all economic laws, particularly concerning city budget, are in the state of "zero reading” (a procedure for preliminary consultation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the State Duma). Besides, the proposals from the businesses, accumulated by the MCCI during the pandemic, were included in all of the five packages of anti-crisis measures, adopted by the city government.
The Deputy of the Municipal Council of the resort of Avaré State of Sao Paulo, Ms. Carla Cristina Massaro Flores, was interested in Russian and Moscow legislation in the field of consumer protection, as well as the prospects for sharing experiences in organizing a dialogue between the branches of government and the business community.
The meeting had an instant real effect. Mr. Abrao Santos Veloso, the Head of the “MSI Mineração Santos Itamarandiba Limitada”, spoke about the digital platform he had developed, which could serve as a means of making private investments in Brazilian and Russian companies online. Mr. Vardanyan, for his part, spoke about the “Business Market” Project, which is an online trading platform that already brings together more than 50 Chambers of Commerce from all over the world. Within the scope of the visit there were consultations and exchange of contacts for the purpose of collaboration between the two projects.
In addition, Mr. Carlos Alberto Cavalcante de Lima, a commercial representative of the “Lusty Professional Cosméticos (São Paulo)”, said that the company has been working in the segment of hair care products for professional use for 15 years. It uses exclusive technologies and natural ingredients sourced exclusively from Brazil. "We are looking for sales representatives. The company is engaged in direct sales and provides staff training, "- emphasized the entrepreneur.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged contacts and souvenirs.
