On September 11, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting between the President of the Chamber, the Moscow City Duma Deputy, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, and the Minister of Economy of the Mexican State of Guanajuato, Mr. Luis Ernesto Avila. The Mexican delegation was on a visit to Moscow to participate in the “World Food Moscow” exhibition.
Welcoming the guests, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Platonov, noted that the Chamber attaches great importance to developing contacts with businessmen from other countries in order to expand sales markets and increase the export of products of Moscow’s companies. It is also ready to assist business representatives of other countries in promoting products on the Russian market. The recent meeting of the C6 Business Council confirmed the interest of the MCCI to expand the International activity. Mr. Luis Ernesto Avila, in turn, noted that the state is actively seeking opportunities to enter International markets.
The state of Guanajuato is located in the central part of Mexico. Traditionally, the production of leather, leather products, and footwear is highly developed - 350 shoe factories are concentrated on its territory. In terms of the output of agricultural products, Guanajuato is second in Mexico. A food industry cluster has been created here. Thanks to a large influx of investments, the automotive industry and the production of components for cars are thriving - by 2020 the output is expected to increase to 1 million vehicles per year. The automotive industry is the main source of innovation in the region. The production of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and tourist industry are also well developed. The state is the leader in the field of water purification.
The Vice President of the MCCI, Mr. Vardanyan, commented on the active state of the Chamber's interrelations with the Mexican business community. High-quality lime and tequila are supplied to the Russian market; joint projects in the energy sector are under way. The interest of Russians in Mexico, as a tourist destination, is growing. The visit of the delegation of the State of Guanajuato will allow enhancing cooperation in all these areas.
The parties agreed on the need to sign an agreement on cooperation between the MCCI and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the State of Guanajuato for mutual promotion of business interests. The President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Platonov, noted the importance of the provisions of the agreement lies in being implemented effectively.
