The Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry was visited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mohamad Wahid Supadiyadi.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Moscow and Indonesia, including the localization of the Indonesian high-tech production on the site of the special economic zone, Zelenograd. As the President of the MCCI, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, noted, "our business ties have a very long history. This is evidenced even by the fact that in Indonesia, the highways, built by the experts from the Soviet Union, are still in operation".
As Mr. Ambassador said, the trade turnover between our countries grew by 33% in 2016 and reached $ 2.6 billion. It is planned that by 2019, it can reach 5 billion, but this figure is much lower than the potential possibilities. "One can not but rejoice over the fact that last year, the export of goods from Russia increased by 50 percent, and the supply of grain increased 300 times. Russia is the 12th economy in the world, and Indonesia occupies the 16th place, and the trade turnover between our countries can be much greater. At the same time, it is extremely important that we are not competitors, our economies are complementary.” Mr. Supadiyadi said.
In August, the Festival of Indonesia will be held in Moscow for the third time, during which an economic forum is planned. According to Mr. Ambassador, more than 500 Indonesian businessmen are expected to take part in this event. "We are very interested in the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry assisting in the holding of this event," Mr. Supadiyadi said. Mr. Platonov assured the distinguished guest that the MCCI will render all possible assistance in organizing the forum. "A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between Moscow and Jakarta, and we are doing considerable work in its behalf. Recently, the Commission for Foreign Economic Cooperation with partners in Indonesia has been created in the Chamber, which underlines our sincere intentions to promote the development of mutual economic ties", - Mr. Platonov declared.
