The President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr.Vladimir Platonov, was one of the main speakers of the event "Russia-Iran: Expanding Opportunities,”which took place on October 19, during the International Export Forum "Made in Russia”.
Russia's interaction with Iran concerns a strategic partnership in trade, regional agenda, logistics, the financial and banking sectors, with new growth, development and cooperation on all levels.
“Iran, as Russia's economic partner, plays different roles. For example: it has a great potential in industrial cooperation - in the automotive, aircraft, gas and construction sectors. Iran is also a significant logistical partner for the formation of alternative ways of transportation of goods. Therefore, bilateral support of our business communities is important for the Russian Exporting Center as a developmental institution," said Mr. Dmitry Prokhorenko, the moderator of the event, Director for Foreign Network Development of the REC Group.
The session participants discussed the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Iran, available state support for business, including insurance and credit-guarantees, investment cooperation, optimization of logistics and development of transit through Iran to third countries, as well as interaction between the customs authorities of the two countries.
Cooperation between the economies of Russia and Iran has a huge potential for development by expanding business interaction between the two countries," said Mr. Platonov. He noted that the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry actively pursues cooperation with a number of Iranian regions and, using the opportunities of the Russian CCI system, enables to share emerging opportunities for cooperation with Russian regions.The President of the MCCI also told representatives of the Iranian and Russian business community about the possibilities of the new MCCI project of working with foreign students, teaching them business skills and gradually involving them in foreign economic activities.
The session was attended by Mr. Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mehdi Sadeghiniaraki, the First Vice President of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Seyed Amir Burhani, the Director General of the EGFI.
On the Russian side, the discussion was attended by Mr. Alexander Ruppel, the Deputy Governor of the Krasnodar Region, Mr. Pavel Kalmychek, Director of the Department for Development of Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Mr. Dmitry Murev, General Director of JSC RZD Logistics, Mr. Khasan Timizhev, the Executive Director of JSC Kavkaz.RF, Mr. Dmitry Zhukov, Head of the Main Department for Organization of Customs Clearance and Customs Control of the Federal Customs Service, and Mr.Nikolay Mashkov, Managing Director of the Department for Development of International Settlements of the VTB bank.
Later, during the Forum, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Subsoil and Agriculture of Tehran. This document envisages intensification of cooperation between the two Chambers in order to develop the economies of both cities. The Memorandum addresses spheres of trade, tourism, agriculture, innovation, investment and technology, as well as the establishment of direct and effective business relations between Moscow’s and Tehran’s entrepreneurs.
This is the seventh cooperation agreement between the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the colleagues of various provinces of Iran, which is an obvious evidence of the growing role of business partnership between the business community of Moscow and its Iranian colleagues.
