On April 10, the management of the Moscow Stock Exchange held a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. H.E. Zayed Bin Rashid Al Zayani, organized by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In addition to the distinguished guest, the meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation, Mr. Ahmed Abdulrahman Mahmud Ismail Al Saati, Chairman of the Management Board of the Moscow Stock Exchange, Mr. Alexander Afanasiev, President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, the Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Suren Vardanyan and members of the Bahrain’s delegation.
Mr. Afanasiev described to the participants the plans and prospects for the development of the MOEX, talked about securities in circulation and the main directions for international cooperation of the Stock Exchange. For his part, Mr. Zayed Rashid Al-Zayani expressed interest in cooperation with the Stock Exchange and expressed his admiration for the diversity of structures, applications and results of its work. In addition, the Minister expressed interest in establishing cooperation between the Stock Exchanges of Moscow and Bahrain.
During the conference, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Platonov, outlined the directions for cooperation between small and medium enterprises of Moscow and Bahrain. According to the Head of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, such business contacts have considerable prospects, since SMEs in Bahrain occupy a prominent niche in the business segment of the Kingdom.
The participants of the event visited the first and only Museum of the Stock Exchange. Its expositions include unique documents of the pre-revolutionary, Soviet and post-Soviet periods, including documents of the the Tsar's Golden Chervontsy, the State Loan, signed by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, as well as shares of various financial pyramids during the period of perestroika (restrucuring - 1980 and 1990s).
The event was supported by the Moscow City Government and the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow.
