The Conference was attended by a representative delegation from Thanh Hoa Province, headed by a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Chairman of the People's Council, Mr. Chinh Van Chien. Russia was represented by more than 120 top managers of Moscow’s companies, including members of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Vietnam’s Ambassador to Russia, Mr. Ngo Duc Manh, Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Konstantin Vnukov delivered welcoming speeches.
Mr. Vardanyan noted that the MCCI, together with the Embassy, Trade Representation of Vietnam in the Russian Federation and Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in Russia promotes Russian and Vietnamese businesses in their respective markets. The cooperation covers not only trade, but also such areas as high technology, energy, health care and tourism. The unique platform of Hanoi-Moscow MFC Hanoi-Moscow, a multifunctional complex, provides an enormous contribution to these endeavours.
The export and investment potential of Thanh Hoa province was presented by the head of the Vietnamese delegation, Mr. Chinh Van Chien.
The Chairman of the People's Council informed that the province is one of the most successfully developing regions of Vietnam. The growth rate of gross regional product in 2018 was about 15% (compared to 7% of the GDP growth of the rest of the country). One of the drivers of the provincial economy is the Ngishon Economic Zone. In addition, eight industrial zones, with the nearly completed infrastructure operate successfully in the province.
According to Mr. Wang Chien, Thanh Hoa is one of the most successful investment provinces in Vietnam. The total amount of foreign direct investment is 13.7 billion US. With the participation of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), 95 projects are being implemented in the province. The priority areas of the province's development are: creation of a single infrastructure on the basis of PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), development of high-tech agriculture, transformation of the province into an attractive and competitive tourist region, as well as into a leading medical centre.
The President of the People's Council then answered many and diverse questions from the Conference participants. He stressed that Thanh Hoa's leadership pays very close attention to the development of cooperation with Russian regions, including Moscow. The province has created the most favourable conditions for investors in the "single window" mode.
A number of memoranda of understanding were signed. The memorandum of cooperation between the MCCI and the Thanh Hoa Department of Trade and Industry was signed by Mr. Vardanian, the MCCI’s Vice-President, and Mr. Le Tien Lam, Head of the Department of Trade and Industry of Vietnam. The parties agreed on joint activities to promote goods, services and business projects of Thanh Hoa Province in Russia.
The event ended with business negotiations between Russian and Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
