On February 20, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, met with the Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the Russian Federation, Mr. Lok Apkhonov Khanty.
Opening the meeting, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, the President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that Russia's cooperation with Laos has a long-standing productive history, which is now taking on a new meaning, due to the world situation. In his speech, the President of the MCCI paid special attention to the MCCI’s educational project - the School of Entrepreneurship for foreign students of Moscow universities: "Start your business with Moscow" - describing its advantages in detail.
The Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the Russian Federation, Mt. Khanty, noted in his response that Laos is very interested in pursuing trade between the two countries.
Mr. Platonov expressed confidence that, thanks to today's meeting, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry will receive information about what products and services the Laos is interested in. "We are ready to deal directly with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. “We have no restrictions," said the Head of the MCCI. He also said that the Moscow Chamber is ready to carry out a constant exchange of business information and is ready to recommend reliable and proven business partners to Lao counter-parties.
"Russia is a rich country," Mr.Lok Apkhon Khanty responded, "we are interested in buying fertilisers (as Thailand and China are doing now), as well as fodder for agriculture. We are also interested in Russian wine". The advisor also said that sausage and caviar from Russia are popular in Laos.
Mr.Vladislav Mishchenko, the Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and International Cooperation of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told how Moscow has been transformed over the past 20 years: becoming a digital city, focusing on transportation, parking lots, interchanges, medicine - everything that Moscow is proud of. He stressed that the Russian capital has major market players who can supply fertilisers, grain, mixed fodder. "We cooperate closely with them and are ready to provide any of your trade requirements and offer you suggestions," Mr. Mishchenko said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed various possible areas of cooperation between Moscow and Lao businessmen. Cooperation with the Lao business community will continue and expand.
