On June 24th the meeting of C6 Business Council of the Chambers of Commerce of the largest cities, attended by the heads of Moscow, Berlin, London, Paris, Beijing and Sao Paulo, was held.
Since the main theme of the meeting this time was the development of education and the interaction of the educational process with the development of innovative technologies, the participants visited the scientific and innovative business cluster - Saclay, Field of Ile-de-France, province of Essonne, located a few dozen kilometers south of Paris on the second day of the meeting. It includes research centers, universities and colleges (higher schools). The area is actively developing, its Board of Directors includes representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Paris, which allows the Chamber to have a major influence on the development of this cluster. Currently they are successfully solving the problem of transportation infrastructure’ evolution, which will afford the use of the area to not only the capital, but also other adjacent regions of France.
Mr Suren Vardanyan, Vice-President of the MCCI, said: "I had a very fruitful discussion within the context of the international affairs, in which different points of view of megacities were expressed as to what innovations are and how they should be developed. It was a "brainstorm", during which the participants presented their visions of the problems and challenges, as well as outlined concrete decisions and measures that one or another city is adopting for enhancing this process".
As a result of the meeting, the desirability of establishing a joint information portal of the C6 cities was recognized. It is envisioned to collect important and interesting business information, furnished by all parties to the Council. In addition, during the meeting, the possibility of increasing the number of members was discussed, with the aim to a wider exposure of mega-cities of the world to international experience, both from Eurasia and the American continents.
As stated by Mr Vladimir Platonov, President of the MCCI, it was decided that the next meeting of C6 group would be held in September 2017 in Moscow: "In the nearest future we intend to conduct consultations and determine the topics for future meetings. Then we will begin the preparations for this very important event".
