On the 1st of December, Moscow hosted the International Conference “Russia-Ireland. The Development of Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation. Brexit”.
Mr. Dmitry N. Sazhin, the Deputy Director of the Department of Europe, North American and International Organizations of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, made the opening remarks.
The Former Prime Minister of Ireland, Mr. Bertie Ahern, the PR and Public Affairs expert and FDI Advisor, Mr. Paddy Duffy, CEO of Marcon Ltd., Mr. Conor Martin and the Chairman of Agrifood Business Partners, Mr. Michael Cronin, among others, spoke at the conference, presenting Ireland.
From the Russian side, the First Deputy General Director of the Agency for Technological Development of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vadim G. Kulikov, Chief Head of the Department of External Connections and Business Councils Cooperation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr. Dmitry B. Bystrov, and others spoke at the conference.
The Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Suren O. Vardanyan, delivered a speech, focusing on investment and industrial potential of Moscow, as a real opportunity for sustainable cooperation with the Irish business partners.
The conference was centered on competitive advantages and prospects for long-term cooperation between Ireland and Russia. Its main directions were aimed at a further development of foreign economic relations between the countries, the examples of successful business partnerships between Ireland and Russia, sustaining conditions for the implementation of joint trade projects in agriculture and animal husbandry. The participants also touched upon the issues of competitive technological solutions in assessing the atmosphere of economic sanctions and global protectionism, the structure of exporting/importing trade operations with the Russian commodity producers and exporters.
The conference highlighted the importance of continued expansion of the mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Ireland.
