The Third Russian-Armenian interregional forum "Russia. Armenia. Customs Union" took place in Armenia on December 2-3, 2013. The events, which were attended by the presidents of the two countries - Vladimir Putin and Serzh Sargsyan - were held on Monday in Gyumri and on Tuesday in Yerevan. Presentation of regions and round tables took place in Yerevan.
The Forum was attended by a delegation of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, headed by the Vice President Mr Suren Vardanyan. The delegation included the Chairman of the Committee of entrepreneurship in the field of architecture, design and construction Mr Valery Abramson and members of the Committee.
Within the framework of the Forum a round table "Eurasian integration: new opportunities for the business world" was organized and attended by representatives of the MCCI.
Mr Suren Vardyanyan, Vice President of MCCI commented on the event: "The key event of the Forum were the addresses of Armenian and Russian Presidents, which identified key points of cooperation between two countries, and mutual desire for integration and creation of common economic zones. In his speech, Putin said that Russia intends to strengthen its positions in the Caucasus. He promised to promote the effective accession of Armenia to the Customs Union and expressed confidence that it would strengthen its economic potential and improve the investment climate. The President of Russia also stressed the need for closer cooperation between the business of Russia and Armenia. Today there are about 1700 companies with Russian participation in Armenia. Forum gathered many representatives of business and civil society, also from many Russian regions. MCCI delegation met colleagues from the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Armenia, Yerevan Chamber of Commerce, South Urals Chamber of Commerce and Saratov CCI. Issues of cooperation and exchange of business delegations were discussed".
