On April 4, 2019, a meeting of the Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mohamed Yongavo, took place on the site of the MCCI.
The main purpose of the meeting was to establish contacts between representatives of small and medium-sized Russian businesses, including those located in Moscow and Sierra Leone, and to promote cooperation in order to implement various bilateral projects.
Petroleum refining, shipping and tourism have been identified as possible areas of cooperation. In addition, the parties discussed the specifics of the capital's market and business climate in Moscow, focusing on investment opportunities of the Russian capital. Guests were also interested in the presentation of the project "Business Market", which can become a point of entry for business in Sierra Leone to the Russian and Moscow ’s markets.
Mr. Mohamed Yongawa, in turn, outlined Sierra Leone's interests. He said that his country is interested in attracting investments for the implementation of various large-scale projects. For this purpose, the Investment Commission has been established, headed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Julius Maada Bio. Favorable conditions for entrepreneurship are being created in the country, in particular, registration of a business in the country takes only 24 hours.
