In Paris, on 23rd June, the Council of the heads of the C6 world’s major capitals: Moscow, Berlin, London, Paris, Beijing and Sao Paulo, held a business meeting.
The President of the MCCI, Vladimir Platonov, and the Vice-president of the capital’s Chamber, Suren Vardanjan, participated in the event.
The current meeting is devoted to questions, examing the development of education, the connection between the level of advancement of a particular region and the presence of modern educational institutions, problems involving the use of innovations in the educational process and the competition between the institutions of higher learning.
During the first day of the meeting, the participants visited Ferrandi - « the French school of culinary art » and were familiarized with the educational and production processes. Established in 1920, Ferrandi became the first school to provide its pupils with graduate, undergraduate and additional education in a given field. The main subjects of discussion became the question of educational centres’ associations with employers, demand for graduates of institutions for higher learning in modern economy, as well as the question of efficiency in the area of logistics and the evolution of transportation infrastructure, as one of the requisite factors for economy’s growth.
Vladimir Platonov reported on the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Idustry’s involvment in the new project concerning vocational training. He has informed the colleagues that one of the possible means for cooperation between educational institutions and employers may be the creation, with the Chamber’s participation, of regional branch educational clusters, functioning on the basis of state-private partnership.
Participants of clusters should include the leaders of hi-tech industries, small and average businesses, large employers, professional communities, representatives of regional authorities, educational organizations. « A similar project is being carried out by the MCCI in the College of modern technologies of the city of Moscow, where the educational energy technology park is being created, declared Vladimir Platonov.
With the active assistance of the MCCI, a cluster for continuing education in the field of energy is being formed with the participation of the largest employers of the region, high schools and other social partners.
Such collaboration has an important social and economic effect – the increase of interest among muscovites of all age groups in obtaining a working trade and social surety with the guaranteed employment ».
The meeting will proceed tomorrow. In the program – the questions of indispensability of the use of innovations for attracting future business leaders and teachers to the institutions of higher learning, as well as barriers in obtaining employment after training and the prospects for a career for former students.
Information Reference: The Business Council of the Chambers of Commerce of the largest cities of the world was formed in 2006 in analogy to the Council, created in 2004, by the mayors of Moscow, Berlin, London and Paris (М-4), which the mayor of Beijing subsequently joined.
On the initiative of the CCIs of Moscow and Berlin on November 2nd, 2006, in Berlin, the first meeting of the presidents of the CCIs of the European capitals (Berlin, Moscow, London, Paris) and the Beijing branch of the Chinese Committee of Assistance to International trade took place. At this meeting, the decision on creation of Business Council of the CCI (С5) was reached. Since then, the meetings of the presidents of the Cambers of Commerce take place annually in each of the participant cities of the Business Council. Then, when in 2012, when the Brazilian megacity Sao-Paolo – the largest city in the Southern hemisphere joined, the Business Council received its name, - С6.
