On May 19, 2014 the agreement on cooperation between the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and the Beijing branch of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade was signed during the visit of the delegation of the Government of Moscow to Beijing, China. The document was signed by Mr Mikhail Kuzovlev, head of MCCI, and Mrs Xiong Jiuling, head of the Beijing Branch of China International Trade Promotion Committee.
The purpose of agreement is to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Beijing and Moscow. Moscow Chamber of Commerce and the Beijing branch of China International Trade Promotion Committee will support the enterprises in their mutual collaboration: “Both parties shall keep constant and close contacts with each other, provide each other with information with regard to trade, technical transfer, and economic cooperation, and exchange publications” – the agreement states in particular. Also cooperation in the fields of education, congress and exhibition activities, exchange of business delegations is expected to become more active. Particular attention will be paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation between small and medium-sized businesses in Moscow and Beijing.
Mikhail Kuzovlev, President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce said, "Moscow and Beijing have much in common. Our cities are very similar to each other, including the problems that are to be addressed. For example, the transport issue or issues of housing and communal services. In solving these problems there is a wide space for the exchange of experience and cooperation between businessmen of two cities".
Mr Sergei Shmakov, Vice President of MCCI underlined: "We have already established stable business relations with partners from the Chinese capital. MCCI and the Beijing Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade are participants of the Agreement of largest world’s CCI “C-6”. Bilateral agreement on cooperation is an efficient tool to further develop a mutually beneficial partnership between the Russian and Chinese business".
Today a great potential for increased cooperation between Moscow and Beijing exists in such priority areas as development of innovative technologies, transport, medicine and health, education, culture and sports. These fields were mentioned in the program of cooperation between the Government of Moscow and People's Government of Beijing for the period of 2014-2016, which was signed on May 19 by the mayors of two cities, Sergei Sobyanin and Mr Wang Anshun.
During the visit to the China the Government and MCCI delegation will also visit Shanghai and Hong Kong, where the Moscow Chamber of Commerce also plans to sign agreements with the business colleagues.
