On August 31, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting between the President of the Chamber, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, and its Vice President, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, with the delegation of the Government of India, headed by the Deputy Minister of the Textile Industry, Mr. Anant Kumar Singh.
Mr. Kumar noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and trade relations between Russia and India. "Trade relations between our countries are traditionally strong. However, the share of imports of Indian textiles to Russia is only 1.5 percent", the Head of the Indian delegation said.
India is the largest producer of cotton and jute, and is the second largest producer of silk and fibers in the world. Therefore, one of the goals of the visits to Moscow and the MCCI by the Indian delegation was precisely the desire to be more widely represented on the Russian market.
"Currently, in Moscow, at VDNH, an exhibition Textilelegprom-2017 is taking place, in which 95 Indian companies are involved. Already there are certain results, negotiations are going on, contracts for the delivery of our products are being signed", Mr. Kumar said.
Mr.Platonov said that the MCCI, for its part, is ready to support the establishment of business ties between Indian entrepreneurs and the business community of Moscow and suggested considering the founding of the Trade House of India in the capital. This proposal was fully supported by the Indian delegation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts and agreed to continue cooperation.
