The MCCI hosted a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Indonesia to discuss ways to further develop and enhance cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
"I am pleased that entrepreneurs play an increasingly meaningful role in the long-standing friendship and cooperation between our countries," the MCCI’s President, Mr. Vladimir Platonov said in his welcoming speech. - “Significant changes are taking place in our economic activities now. Many years of contractual obligations are being dissolved by political decisions, which brings a marked imbalance in the development of our economies. We are actively cooperating with countries that have not supported sanctions and continue to work together with Russia," said the Head of the Chamber. He added that businessmen from Indonesia have the opportunity to send their employees to study in Russia, and with the support of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce may subsequently become representatives of companies that sent them for training.
In response, the Head of the Indonesian delegation, Mr. Muhammad Idris Laena, noted that the economic sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia “have revealed Instead how great the potential of Russia is, especially in terms of supplying important products such as wheat and gas to the world market.
"Indonesia and Russia can become strategic trade partners; Indonesia has a population of 273 million people, so we can and should help each other develop our economies," said Mr. Idris Laena. Russia is interesting for Indonesia as a supplier of energy and food. Moreover, it is not only about the usual mutual trade: Indonesia can become a hub for introducing Russian goods to the markets of Southeast Asia. Representatives of the Indonesian delegation also talked about the simplification of the goods supply regime and procedures for Indonesian citizens' visits to Russia.
"Borders, controls and barriers were built to protect a state, not to create problems for tourists. And the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a task to simplify the system of tourist arrival here. This work is being actively done now", - noted Mr. Platonov. He added that Chambers of Commerce and Industry are requested by businessmen to create favourable conditions for cooperation with other countries, which efforts they will gladly support. "Thank you for this visit. This is not a formal meeting, but an exchange of really important information between interested parties," summed up the President of the MCCI.
