Among the participants, there were 26 companies representing public structures of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including the Guild of Jewelry Exporters, the Guild of Trade and Services, the Insurance Committee, the Committee for Support and Development of Youth Entrepreneurship and a number of country commissions of the Chamber. There could have been more participants, but the organizers had to close the registration in advance because of the lack of seats in the audience.
The representatives of small and medium business of both countries expressed hope for bilateral development of business contacts in the light of actively developing relations between Russia and Japan. Japan's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mr. Toyohisa Kozuki, in his introduction also mentioned that 2020 will be the year of interregional exchanges between Russia and Japan. This means that there will be a significant increase in the number of events aimed at strengthening and expanding contacts between the two countries.
The Forum was organized by the Japanese Centre for Trade and Economic Relations, the Embassy of Japan in the Russian Federation, as well as the Federal Resource Centre for Management Training (FRTs), the Japanese Foreign Trade Development Organization (JETRO) and SCA with information support from the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry in such a way that each participant received the maximum amount of information and interesting contacts for further bilateral cooperation.
Japanese companies, in turn, assessing the prospects of the Russian market, are becoming more and more interested in promoting their products, services and technologies. Russian entrepreneurs were particularly interested in the development of artificial intelligence, IT-projects, the latest technologies in the beauty industry. Trade in Japanese traditional alcoholic beverages, art objects and antiques may become a promising area of cooperation.
A separate part of the forum became the B2B negotiations between representatives of business circles of Russia and Japan.
The organizers noted that the Forum was very successful, and in terms of negotiations, it can be called a kind of "contact exchange", which allowed a significant number of entrepreneurs to become acquainted with their colleagues and exchange contacts. The negotiations produced concrete results in the form of primary agreements between Russian and Japanese companies.
The event was organized with the support of the Government of Moscow and the Department of Economics of Moscow.
