On March 5-9, a delegation from the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by the President of the Chamber, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, visited Bahrain.
On the first day of the visit, the Head of the MCCI met with the Head of the Economic Development Council of the Crown Prince, Mr. Khalid Al Rumaihi, Head of Capital Impact Group, Mr. Fauzi Al Aradi and Head of the company - Dynamic Structures/AlSuwaiket, Mr. Jassim A. Al-Ghatam.
The parties agreed to consider Bahrain as a "point of entry" for Russian and Moscow businessmen to the markets of the Persian Gulf countries. The next meeting is scheduled for the near future: on April 11, a meeting of the Russian-Bahrain Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled to take place in Moscow.
The decision was made to organize the meeting of the Economic Development Council delegation with members of the Moscow Chamber at the MCCI.
At the meeting, the Russian company, TechnoTEK, presented its methodology for enhancing oil recovery at different stages of a well’s life cycle. Possibilities for joint work of TechnoTEK and AlSuwaiket in KSA - SaudiAramco were also discussed.
The next day, a meeting was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bahrain with the leadership of the Moscow Chamber, with the participation of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Igor Kremnev, and Mr. Ruslan Guchetl, the Russian Federation Embassy’s Counsellor.
The Russian delegation was hosted by the Chairman of the Chamber of Bahrain, Mr. Samir Abdullah Nass, First Deputy Chairman, Mr. Khalid Mohamed Yusuf Najibi, Second Deputy Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Abduljabbar Mahmood Alkooheji Alkohedzhi, the Financial Director, Mr. Arif Ahmed Ali Heyres, the member of the Board of Directors, Prof. Waheeb Ahmed Mohamed Al Khjah, and PR Director, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Mohammed Al Shabib.
The parties agreed to work together to facilitate the entry of Moscow’s entrepreneurs into the markets of the Persian Gulf through Bahrain. Discussed were the development of Islamic banking in Russia, strategy for transforming Bahrain to a country with a potential for medical tourism and specific medical technologies. In addition, the possibility of grain supply to Bahrain was discussed.
The main topics of the Moscow Chamber's delegation meeting with the son and Advisor to His Royal Highness, Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, were the issues of establishing cooperation with Russian architects and designers for the creation of Smart City in Bahrain; attracting investors to medical clusters in Skolkovo.
In addition, discussed were the prospects of tourism development, organization of scholarships and grants for students and postgraduates from Russia, for writing dissertations on Smart City planning and urban development in Bahrain. Also discussed was the possibility of opening a branch of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) in Bahrain, aimed at training students and postgraduates in the Gulf countries.
