As noted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Russian Federation, Mr. Vasile Soare, "Over the past five years, due to the difficult political situation, business circles in Romania and Russia have been regarding each other with caution. At the same time, in the last two years, the trade turnover between our countries has started to increase again - in 2018, it again approached $5 billion. At the same time, up to 10% of Russia's exports come from mineral resources (gas, coal, oil products). "We cannot produce that much furniture and wine to compete with the Russian energy products," said the Ambassador. He stressed that Romania has a wide range of exported products, including agricultural products, automotive components, medicines, electronics, etc.
The Timis County is the second fastest growing economy in Romania after Bucharest County, according to the President of the Council of Timis, Mr. Călin-Ionel Dobra. He said that the district is distinguished by a well-developed infrastructure, including transportational base - the district borders on Hungary and Serbia, and has a large international airport on its territory. There are 7 universities in the municipality, where 40,000 students study, 10% of them coming from other countries. Timis is ready to attract investments in education, research and tourism.
According to the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Timis County, Ms. Florica Chirita, there are almost 50 thousand companies operating in the county, more than 7,700 of them with foreign capital. The main partners of the entrepreneurs of this municipality are businessmen from Italy, however, Romania is interested in expanding its scope of international involvement.
During the event, Russian entrepreneurs learned about the main areas of cooperation in which Romania is interested, as well as got acquainted with the presentations of a number of companies in the Timis county, specializing in production and processing of agricultural products and automotive spare parts.
An important part of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Timis County. The document was signed by the President of the MCCI, Mr.Vladimir Platonov and Ms. Florica Chirita.
Members of the Romanian delegation had the opportunity to talk to Moscow businessmen and identify ways and means for cooperative interaction.
