On April 7, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting of the MCCI’s President, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to the Russian Federation, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber.
The President of the MCCI welcomed the Ambassador and his team to the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and reminded that it was created "by entrepreneurs themselves to create favourable conditions for them. Mr. Vladimir Platonov specified: "Undoubtedly, we very much value our external contacts with our foreign colleagues, learning and studying from their practices." Then, he briefly described the work of the MCCI and outlined various aspects of its activities.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber was recently appointed the Ambassador of the UAE to Russia. "The interaction between our countries has reached a strategic level, thanks to the mutual commitment of the leaders of the two countries in order to further strengthen a mutually beneficial cooperation," he said in his welcoming remarks.
He emphasized that for the UAE, at this stage, the following areas are a priority for cooperation in trade and economic areas with the Russian Federation: food security, technical industry, health care and pharmaceuticals.
And also, artificial intelligence and IT applications. He also listed several factors that hinder the active entry of Emirat’s investors into the Russian market. The first, is the lack of benefits and privileges that an Arab investor would get when participating in large projects with Russian partners. The second, is the lack of a database for Emirates’ companies and investors to participate in investment projects with the Russian Federation.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber noted as well that Russia's participation in the “EXPO-2021”in Dubai, rigorously promotes the familiarization of the international community with Russian culture, its industry and agricultural products. “The more so that the Russian pavilion is unique from an architectural point of view," he added.
The Vice President of the MCCI, Mr Suren Vardanyan, reminded the participants that the Chamber works closely with the Emirates’ business circles, with the system of UAE’s Chambers of Commerce. And during the pandemic year of 2020 alone, six separate conferences, dedicated to the United Arab Emirates, were conducted.
"So we have every reason to believe that we can expand this circle of contacts. In addition, we diligently attend and participate in the events, held by the Arab Emirates here in Russia. In the biggest Forum, during the visit of the Emirates’ Minister of Economy, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce was an active participant," said Mr. Vardanyan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts.
