The President of the Portuguese company, Mr. Jacinto Pereira, delivered a presentation, aimed at showing the advantages of investments in Portugal. The chief advantage of the Republic is its strategic geographical location. Lisbon is a European platform for interaction with Africa, North and South America. Mr. Suren Vardanyan, the Vice President of the MCCI, noted that Russia is restoring its economic and political presence in Africa. He mentioned the Economic Forum “Russia-Africa”, which took place in Sochi, and was attended by top-level leaders - Presidents of 44 countries. "Cooperation between Russian, Moscow’s and Portuguese companies in working on the African market, including in technological projects, is not only acceptable, but is most advantageous," Mr. Vardanyan said.
Mr. Jacinto Pereira noted that among the competitive advantages of Portugal are also important human resources, developed infrastructure - 3rd place in Europe by broadband Internet and 4th place by road network development, as well as safety - 3rd place in the world among the safest countries.
In addition, investors should be interested in the possibility of obtaining a residence permit, competitive tax treatment - tax benefits for non-residents, job creation and rehabilitation of cities, as well as flexible labour legislation.
MCCI Vice-President Suren Vardanyan was particularly interested in the possibility of registering a new company in just 45 minutes.
The interest of the Muscovites was aroused by the story of two industrial parks in Lisbon - port logistics, industrial and technological platforms, accommodating 275 companies.
Ms. Christina Zarubina, the Head of the “Calibre” Technopark, who was present at the meeting, was interested in what it takes for a foreign company to become a resident of Technoparks in Lisbon. It turned out that there are no special requirements other than real business interest. Portuguese technoparks can accept a company in any field of activity.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Mr. Arslan Ayupov, the Director for Strategy of Technopolis "Moscow" Special Economic Zone, made a detailed comment. "We are a special economic zone and no longer work with start-ups, but with existing companies that are directly involved in in producing goods. Most of them are starting to enter international markets - to export their products. These companies would most likely be interested to cooperate with your platforms and with Portugal. I would suggest coming to visit us first, to get acquainted, and then we will recruit a lot of companies that are interested in Portugal to host their products," said Mr. Ayupov.
After a lively exchange of views and suggestions, the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Union "Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry" and the state company Baia do Tejo S.A. (Portuguese Republic).
The event was supported by the Moscow City Government and the Department for Economic Policy and Development of Moscow.
