Institute of Urban Planning "Urbanika" published a ranking of Russian cities in terms of development of industrial infrastructure. Ranking is based on a comparison of municipal statistics with corporate reporting and allows to track actual indicators of industrial production in a particular city.
"Urbanika" has explored the problems of modern industrial cities and geography of the location of production within "Top 250 largest industrial centers of Russia" during last 3 years. The study results reveal the map of main centers in terms of growth and recession areas of Russian industry.
St. Petersburg takes the first position demonstrating industry output of 2.336 bln rubles, ahead of Moscow with 2241 bln. of industrial output. Third position was taken by Surgut - with industry output of 1215 bln rubles. Top ten cities' list includes also such cities as Nizhnevartovsk, Omsk, Perm, Ufa, Novy Urengoy, Nizhnekamsk and Nogliki (Sakhalin region).
