The MCCI’s Design Guild has completed its mission to Beijing with flying colours
25 September 2019
On September 25, a meeting of the Guild of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Specialists of the Design Industry was held at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The results of the first official participation of the Guild’s members in the Beijing Design Week were discussed.
Ms. Anastasia Krylova, the Chairman of the Guild of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Specialists of the Design Industry of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, talked about the Moscow’s professional community and its success on one of the most prestigious world platforms of the industry - the Design China Beijing.
The “Moscow Design Pavilion” project received support from both the RF government and the business community, demonstrating the developing awareness for the national design policy. This is the first project of the Russian design policy, created with the participation of government agencies and the Russian Embassy, and represents a confirmation of the strategic role of design in the international positioning of the country and the promotion of the "Made in Russia" brand.
"Following the results of the conducted business mission, we intend to conclude the agreement on realization of the program "Moscow - the guest city of the Beijing week of design in 2021,” - said Ms. Krylova. It is considered to be a very interesting cultural exchange program. The Beijing delegation will come to Moscow next year for the MosBuild exhibition, within the auspices of which we will hold the Chinese Design days in Moscow," said the head of the Guild.
Mr. Suren Vardanyan, the Vice President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the results of the Beijing business mission highly: "In terms of the results achieved, firmly establishing Moscow and Moscow’s design history, this is a great breakthrough! It was an introductory discovery for the Chinese audience, which may reappraise their views, regarding what is happening in Russia and Moscow within this profession.”
One more advantage, according to the Vice President of the Moscow Chamber, Mr. Vardanyan, is that the Guild of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Specialists of the Design Industry has managed to "unite the creative personnel around itself, ”that is, to mitigate disagreements, ambitions, claims of various schools and directions, to unite and be able to nurture and promote communications. That made it possible to create an excellent venue, to saturate this large scale event with content, to hold relevant negotiations, to get support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moscow City Government.
Mr. Vardanyan emphasized that the MCCI “has gained a great deal of experience" in organizing such largescale events. There were, of course, contention issues, but now "there is an understanding of how to solve these problems, and the most important thing is that the community is ready to solve them together with us," concluded the Vice President of the MCCI.
The event was supported by the Moscow City Government and the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow
