On June 10, an online conference "Switzerland and Liechtenstein: New Opportunities for Entrepreneurs", organized by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held. It continued the series of events, dedicated to doing business in different countries, entering new markets, their special features and legal aspects.
The moderator of the conference, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, the Vice President of the MCCI, in his opening speech, said: "Our task is to enable companies to understand the feasibility, opportunities, prospects and nuances of doing business with countries, such as Switzerland and Liechtenstein. These countries have their own specifics - even in the European business environment they are diverse from many other countries”.
Mr. Andreas Bitzi, the Head of the Swiss United Chambers of Commerce in Russia, spoke about the importance of business etiquette in doing business in Switzerland. "Business etiquette, levels of discourse and manners are important in Switzerland. We have a rather formal approach to business. Communication manners are important and respect is mainly based not on an individual's personality, as in some countries, but on competence, achievements, results and efficiency. These are the most important factors," stressed `Mr. Bitzi. He also reminded of the need to adhere to compliance requirements.
Then the "Country-Learning Marathon" was picked up by Mr.Yuri Ovseenko, the Director of the SGBA Economic Development Agency for Russia and CIS of Eastern Switzerland. The topic of his speech was how to move to Switzerland and, in fact, why, outlining points of attraction that can be of interest for Russian businesses there. Speaking about the advantages, he highlighted the general safety and reliability of the country and the region, its innovations and technologies. He also spoke about measures to support innovative companies, which are provided by Swiss cantons to improve the competitiveness of the regions.
The representative of the Swiss-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Svetlana Shiryaeva, briefly spoke about the goals of the Chamber, the main focus of which is the strengthening of business ties between Switzerland and Russia, bilateral cooperation and mediation.
The attorneys from the law firm of Lennert Partners Rechtsanwälte, Ms. Yanina Petrovskaya and Mr. Aleksandr Yudovych, discoursed on peculiarities and possibilities for implementing IT - business blockchain projects in jurisdictions of Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Concluding the event, Mr. Vardanyan, said: "I am confident that today's meeting will serve to intensify cooperation between Russia, Switzerland and Liechtenstein bilaterally. We each have the impetus to help one another and possess determinable tangibles to offer each other in order to promote cooperation. That was the goal of our event!"
