Representatives of the MCCI met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. H.E. Hamud bin Salim bin Abdullah Al Tuwayh.
Opening the meeting, the President of the MCCI, Mr. Vladimir Platonov, stressed that in the current situation, Russian entrepreneurs are looking to form new contacts, establish trade relations, are building new logistics and commodity chains.
"Building business relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf is one of the priorities for the Chamber.” - emphasized the Head of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
For his part, Mr. E. P. Hamud bin Salim bin Abdullah Al Tuwayh informed that he arrived in Russia only at the end of October and wanted to promptly meet with representatives of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, since he strongly believes in its capabilities of building business relationships.
“The level of trade between our countries is not yet significant enough, but I will make every effort to ensure that these indicators grow in the fields of trade, industrial production and investment in Oman’s economy,” the Ambassador said.
The Vice President of the MCCI, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, spoke about the main directions of the MCCI concerning foreign economic activity. In particular, he noted that during the pandemic, the Chamber conducted very popular and well-attended online conferences, dedicated to the development of relations between entrepreneurs from different countries. The Russian side proposed to begin working on the organization of such events for both Moscow entrepreneurs and representatives of business circles of Oman. Currently, a package of offers concerning possible areas for cooperation in the field of medicine is being organized by us: we are talking about both equipment and medicines," said Mr.Vardanyan.
Among the promising areas for cooperation, the meeting considered food production, pharmacology, industrial production, the oil and gas industry. Especially, Mr. E.P. Hamud bin Salim noted the interest of the Sultanate of Oman in Russian investments.
The discussion resulted in reaching preliminary agreements on the formation of business missions by entrepreneurs of the two countries who are seriously interested in establishing business contacts. In addition, the parties noted that the creation of an intergovernmental commission between Russia and Oman could contribute, with the support of the authorities, to a more intensive development of business relations
Summing up the event, Mr. Platonov, described the meeting as "very useful" and offered a determined hope that it will help to promote and intensify contacts between the business circles of the two countries. Mr. E.P. Hamud bin Salim thanked colleagues for the productive meeting and expressed confidence that "it will help to increase the level of mutual cooperation."
