Mr. Vladimir Padalko, the Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in his speech, said that such spheres of economy as geological exploration, supplies and production of various kinds of equipment, healthcare and agriculture are the promising areas for mutual cooperation. He said that now, there is an active preparation for the Russia-Africa summit, which is scheduled for October 23-24, in Sochi. The Economic Forum will also take place during the summit. The Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation expressed confidence that the management and representatives of business circles of the Republic of Mozambique will take an active part in these events.
During their speeches, the parties confirmed their interest in developing and the further continuing expansion of economic relations between Russia and Mozambique. In his speech, Mr. Nyusi emphasized the historical ties between the two countries, recalling the significant role of the USSR in in achieving Mozambique’s independence. He called Russians "a nation of victors" and described the relations between the two countries as "old wine, old friend, old gold”.
The Chairman of the Confederation of Economic Associations of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Agostiño Vuma, went on to continue the theme of the joint work between Russian and Mozambique’s entrepreneurs. He said that the Republic of Mozambique hopes to expand bilateral cooperation in areas such as the production of various types of machines and equipment, as well as discovering new forms of partnership to further develop the agricultural sector, electricity production, logistics, oil and gas industry and other sectors of economy. According to Mr. Vuma, the main task of the Mozambique is to diversify the trade turnover with the Russian Federation. He also noted the positive dynamics of economic cooperation with Russia.
During the Forum, various sectors of the Mozambique’s economy were outlined. The presentation was given by the Chairman of the Agency for Investment and Export Promotion of Mozambique (APIEX), Mr. Lawrence Sambu, the Chairman of the National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH), Mr. Omar Mita and others.
Mr. Marc Partridge, the Vice-President of Gazprombank JSC, Mr. Yuri Namestnikov, the Head of the team of the Global Center for Threat Research and Analysis at Kaspersky Lab, and Mr. Evgeny Volosov, the General Director of Tazetta Resources LDA, told their Mozambique colleagues about the prospects of Russian businesses.
The forum was concluded with the conference of participants in the B2B format. The Vice-president of the MCCI, Mr. Suren Vardanyan, conducted talks with Mr. Vuma, during which it was agreed to develop economic contacts between the MCCI and Confederation of Economic Associations of the Republic of Mozambique.
